On Hayek: Interpretation of Spontaneous Order

An economic philosophy paper discussing Hayek's suspicion of committing naturalistic fallacy.

2024

What it is

This paper analyzes two arguments on whether or not Hayek had committed naturalistic fallacy in justifying his economic philosophy on spontaneous order. The paper examines the arguments made by Angner and Caldwell, and determines which argument more accurately interprets Hayek’s writings and thoughts. It concludes that neither side had rigorously justified their claims, with certain imperfections in their arguments.
